Inprogress Magazine- PaperMonster

May 12, 2010
May 21st is around the corner and “Something Worth Going To” will soon open in Orlando. Inprogress Magazine (HERE) will have full coverage of the entire event. You can view Pete Van Flores III’s feature on PaperMonster and find more about “Something Worth Goin To” over at: http://inprogressmag.com/magz/?p=2804
Via Inprogress Magazine::
I don’t exactly know his secret but it’s like staring at a woman’s personality filled with comical stories and a sort of cartoony filled Karma which started it’s aura as early as the 70’s. That might not make much sense but once you look at his work you’ll more than likely get the same feeling. His work is definitely an inspiration to those attempting to Stencil or Collage and also shows you can get past the very common stencil style and add crazy personality to a piece. I personally love stencil work and though I love Banksy’s work I do get tired of the Banksy clones really quick, there’s always a stencil artist doing a little girl by a soldier, or even a bomb falling by an innocent woman, but when you can be original and still tell a story or just make the viewer smile using your own style I think you really solidify yourself as an artist and person who is capable of inspiring… For more Click HERE

PaperMonster’s Favorite Things May 2010

May 10, 2010
May is here which means summer is just around the corner! This month’s PaperMonster favorite things cover some new games including Super Mario Galaxy 2, Red Dead Redemption, my favorite sneakers this month, great new music and a movie you MUST watch this summer!! Check out all of the great things below.
Ratatat will soon release LP4. If you don’t know about Ratatat you can learn more here:
http://www.ratatatmusic.com/
or check out the lastest track from LP4 below:

Up next we have A-Trak and the May 17th release of Dirty South Dance 2. If you don’t know about A-Trak and Dirty South Dance 1 you have to get your hands on a copy. Super excited to get my hands on this. For more on A-Trak visit: http://djatrak.com/
Nike must read my mind or be a huge fan of my paintings because I have been in love with every blue/teal shoe they have released this year and I have purchased every single one. Above is the Nike RT1. I posted about the RT1s before and this has become one of my favorite shoe concepts almost at the level of my love for Nike Dunk Highs. Check out more of the Summer 2010 releases here:
http://www.nicekicks.com/2010/04/nike-rt1-marina-blue-auto-flight-dark-obsidian/
Now you may not recognize these images above and below but that is Mario in some of his newest costumes for Super Mario Galaxy 2 releasing May 23!! I am really excited to see what other suprizes Nintendo in this game as more details continue to be released in the next coming weeks. Did you know you could use Yoshi in the game as well?!! YES! Check out more from Super Mario Galaxy 2 here:
and check out a gameplay video below.

Mario Galaxy 2 is not the only amazing game being released this May. Red Dead Redemption (HERE) hits shelves this month and this game is one word: GIGANTIC! Rockstar Games, the makers of the Grand Theft Auto series have put together what could possibly be one of the best games this year. You have to check out the video below to see how beautiful and massive the game is. You will not want to miss out on this experience. Also the multiplayer is just mind blowing. Check out the video below:

Lastly, IRON MAN 2 is an awesome movie. It released this weekend and most likely broke some sort of box office record. There is something about this movie that just makes we want to create some new gadjet or try something new. Hopefully you will have the opportunity to check it out in a theater near you. Check out the clip below of the amazing briefcase power suit.

Friends: The Art of JOKA

April 16, 2010
There are very few artists that impress me in the art world as many people just want to make something quick and “sell-able.” JOKA (HERE) is one of the handful of people that I am completely blow away with in terms of how much time and just hist entire technique to painting. JOKA’s “brush” is a toothpick(s)! You have to see his work to really understand but each painting is made up of thousands of small dots painted on using toothpicks dipped in paint and then used as a brush. The amount of dedication and time he puts in his work is just remarkable. JOKA just recently opened his second solo show at Art N Souls Studios (HERE) and will be having many more exciting work coming out throughout the year. Check out more of his work below or visit his site over at:

If you have a favorite thing for this month or any mont feel free to shoot it over to v@papermonster.org

Now we begin with the big dog. This game is 100% FREE. It is a new game from Cartoon Network titled “Ultimate Crisis” (HERE) and I have never ever seen a free game on the web with such high quality graphics. You have to see it for yourself. Enjoy. It is FREE.

New up we have another experience that is also 100% Free!! Now if you live in the NYC,NY,NJ area you do not want to miss these beautiful cherry blossom trees that are blooming all of April. They are located in Branch Brook Park in Nothern, NJ near Belleville, NJ (MAP HERE) and it will take your breath away to see these trees. April 13 is a great time to stop by and catch hundreds of these amazing trees. For more info visit:

Next we have a new and extremely fun Ipod Touch and Iphone app: Street Fighter IV. This app is amazing. I can not put it down. Below check out two recent findings which were a fantastic watch. The first is the Beautiful Losers Movie via FreshNerd (HERE) and the second is the preview video for Turmkunst 2010(HERE). Turmkunst is the project of a lifetime if you think about it. The video speak for itself and if this is the direction that urban/street/contemporary art is going it is extremely exciting.

Up next we have one of my favorite songs right now. Kevin Rudolf has teamed up with Lil Wayne, Jay Sean, and Birdman on a great song called I Made It (HERE). Great song to drive to.

Next up!! One of the best FREE games I have played in quite some time. CartoonNetwork presents Stark Tower Defense (HERE) which is a action strategy game based on the new cartoon Super Heroe Squad. Quality game that will help you pass tons of hours especially on the EPIC difficulty level. Check it out HERE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxRyMeFcZEw
Finally we have another amazing iPod/iPhone game game release this time from the talented people over at Gameloft titled: Brothers in Arms 2 (HERE) . Trust me when I say this; iPod Touch games and iPad games are going to be taking over the gaming industry. The quality of these games is incredibly high and the cost to purchase the games is so low if not free. Brothers in Arms 2 has a great campaign/story mode and an even better multiplayer experience where you can play on teams, domination, or deathmatch. I recommend this game to everyone!! Find me in multiplayer as PaperMonster. Check out the full review of the game here:

The Art Street Journal has news from artists and contributing writers all over the urban art world and is it an extremely well put together newspaper. You can get your FREE copy by just filling out a simple subscription form here: http://theartstreetjournal.com/

Also, VOTE (HERE) for The Art Street Journal to win a $50,000 grant to continue their amazing work from Pepsi’s Refresh Project. Voting closes on February 28th so make sure to pass this on to your friends and anyone you know who loves art and would love a FREE newspaper.

Monkee Design: PaperMonster Interview

February 8, 2010
I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Monkee Design (HERE) for an interview on all things new and old with my art. Monkee Design is an industrial design and student resource blog and during the interview we discussed everything from my mindset when creating paintings, the materials I use, what shows are in store for 2010, resources for students interested in urban art and stencil graffiti, and advise for young people with the desire to create. My favorite part of the interview is that it goes through some of my past work and you can see the evolution in style and quality of the paintings that has taken place through time. You can read the entire interview for yourself over at Monkee Design: PaperMonster Interview (HERE) or click on any of the image below.

“I think the main thing is to not limit yourself to what materials you use whether they are physical materials or computer tools and programs. Don’t get stuck in “Oh I only use a certain spray paint brand or Photoshop or Oils,” because you can really box yourself in and prevent some real discoveries for yourself. It helps you we well rounded and better prepared for future opportunities or challenges that may come.” -PaperMonster

“When I first started to paint I had no supplies or resources, and it is the support of people who have purchased my work, provided me with opportunities to show and encouraged me to continue to create that I have been able to make better quality work. I can not thank people enough for how much I appreciate their support. Never forget people that have been by your side since the beginning. “-PaperMonster

“The best piece of advise I can give is: “Take Your Time.” When you are ready then you are ready. I know that sounds like a cliché but it is absolutely true. If you rush your work it will show in the quality. Everyone wants to have solo shows and amazing success but it does not come over night. Take the time to put in a strong effort and people will admire and respect what you do.” -PaperMonster

First up we have the final season of LOST. If you are like me and have been watching LOST for many seasons you know your mind just goes for a loop the entire time trying to figure out what will happen next. You can watch the latest episodes for Season 6 for FREE over at http://abc.com/ Thankfully if you missed most or all of the seasons of Lost you can just read summaries or info on LOST and all the madness at http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page or watch the final season every Tuesday night on ABC.
Next we have the perfect Valentine’s gift because men deserve gifts too on V-day called the Nike: Auto Flight High “Kill Bill” colorway(HERE) You can find more info on the shoe here http://extrabutterny.com/shoe_store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1100
or click on the image above to view all three views of the shoes. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Followed by my favorite shoes of this month we have one of my FAVORITE games and it is none other than Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (HERE) on the iPhone and iPod Touch. This game is on $9.99 and you can play it for hours whether you are stealing your favorite cars or completing sidemissions such as jetski races or buying new apartments you will not be dissapointed with the quality and fun of this game. For more on GTA: Chinatown Wars for the iPod/iPhone visit: TouchArcade.com

Finally we have two of my favorite games. Now when I write about games my emphasis is on the quality. Why spend $50 for something that is not worth the money of the time? These two games are definately worth the cash. First we have Capcom Vs. Tatsunoko for the Wii (HERE) . This game has been recently released in the US and you have to see and play it for yourself to know how wild the game is. It features head to head combat between characters from both the Capcom and Tatsunoko franchise. Check out the video below or visit http://www.gametrailers.com/game/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-ultimate/10355

for more info and a great review of the game.

Lastly we have one of the largest games of 2010 so far. Mass Effect 2 for the Xbox360 (HERE). I won’t even go into the details of how long, epic, huge, stunning, and amazing this game is in terms of quality and just pure exciting gameplay. You can check out info on Mass Effect 2 and check out the full review (HERE) of the game which scored a 9.7 out of 10. Do you know how good that score is? It is GOOD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFajRU4xAVI

You Never Know

February 1, 2010
One of the single most amazing part about being an artist is that you never know where you will have an impact on someone and how far your art will travel and touch people. My art travels the globe and interacts with hundreds of people that I may never meet in my lifetime and that in itself is pretty magical. Check out some new photos of PaperMonster stickers in a rice field and mountainous region of Indonesia for yourself and see what I mean. They are beautiful.
Many Thanks To Fiky For The Amazing Photos.
