Metropolis Gallery (HERE) is setting up to have a wonderful show opening September 4th curated by David Choe (HERE) featuring works from Rob Sato (HERE) and Joe To (HERE). Metropolis is an awesome spot that brings together both a retail store and art gallery in one seamless concept/space. I had one of my first solo shows at Metropolis in late 2008 I could not believe the huge crowd that came by. I am sure this opening will also be huge. Metropolis Gallery can be found all over the new September issue of Juxtapoz Magazine alongside the Rob Sato and Joe To interview by David Choe. Catch some images below. This is my first of the many upcoming gallery guide post that I will be conducting to showcase some of my favorite upcoming art events and spaces that work extremely hard to put on some of the most beautiful shows.

Saturday’s Edgewood Mural Event in Washington, DC organized by Albus Cavus (HERE) was a major success. Although I was not there to take part in the beautiful project I stumbled upon photos taken by Pati Gaitan (HERE) and Love Is Kind (HERE) and they are truly stunning. Some incredibly talented artists where present and raised the bar extremely high such as Will Kasso, Chor Boogie, Pose2 aka Maxx Moses, Decoy, Leon Rainbow, Nose, Delve, Luv1, Demer and many more local and international artists. The work and time put into the project is truly inspirational and every time I see photos like these they push me to create. I hope they do the same for you. Visit the mural if you are in the area:

Excerpt from the PaperMonster x STATUS Mag Interview titled “DOUBLE IDENTITY”::
“It’s not everyday that you get to see a guy with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences rip up the art scene the way stencil graffiti artist PaperMonster has. ” I admit that it is a massive leap from stencil artist, but at the same time it is very exciting, and I am extremely lucky to be able to do both at the same time. My two lives really melt together at some points and both rely on the exact same thing: Experimenting……”
This month’s PaperMonster’s Favorite Things cover everything that is BIG including giant legs, giant faces, and ever bigger spray paint caps. First on the list comes something that I never thought I would see: A Giant Spray Cap CHAIR (HERE) !! Followed by the chair comes the all new season of Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory Season 2 (HERE) which is sure to pull out all the stops. Gold Coin’s (HERE) new Summer 09 line looks fantastic and one of my favorite pieces from the collection is the “Stick Up” tee which will soon be turned into a vinyl toy. After the tee we see two wonderful artists all about scale and beauty. First we have JR’s beautiful new piece show at Paris’ Emanuel Perrotin Gallery and it is followed by Insa’s most recent art show in collaboration with Nike. These two artists are truly pioneers of their respective genres and every single time I view one of their works I feel the urge to create. Lastly, as more news comes from the new Iron Man 2 movie I ran into this incredible trailer of an Iron Man Anime movie which just blew me away.

This past Saturday I headed over to 100B/Art Primo Store Opening with Ren. On the way to the opening we found a GEM!! We stopped over at Vanessa’s Dumpling House on 118 Eldridge St
(between Broome St & Grand St) and this place was fantastic. The menu was huge and the prices were super low. So low Ren and I ate like royalty for 8 bucks!! 8 Bucks!! After that we headed over to 100B Forsyth also between Boome and Grand and the line was heavy to get into the Art Primo Store (HERE). Once in the door it was pure magic. The spot sell every and any type of graffiti supply you need including: KRINK, MTN2G, Molotow and Molotow High Pressure (personal favorites), MTN94, Shirts, Markers (industrial, on the run, and Molotow markers), Mops, Stickers, DVDs, magazines, and books. If you are a writer, artist, or just love graffiti this is a great place to check out and have a wonderful time. Even I (PaperMonster) had to pick up some supplies.
The store hours are Wednesday 3-9pm and Friday 3-9pm and by appointment.

Plenty of gear. **MAJOR RULE: To by spray paint or markers you must be 18+ years old or older with ID** Look at the amount of cans for days!! These ladies know their graff supplies. If you ask for a Molotow Grasshoper they know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Thanks ladies!! Don’t even try to rak anything because at the end of the day you will run into him owning that door! HUGE thanks to Are1 (owner of the shop) and DJ Tony Tone of the incredible Cold Crush Brothers for a great time. The entire shop is just phenomenal and very well done. Enjoy!! Could not leave the store empty handed. They gave out some wonderful free goodies for everyone who came out. Many thanks!! After the shop headed over to Central Park for a beauiful walk. Amazing views all over. PaperMonster and Ren (super jealous that she got to tag at 100B Store)
