I just received an amazing package in the mail from my good friend John Koleszar (
HERE) It is a massive stencil art piece featuring a beautiful beach scene. The size is massive and the amount of detail is great. John is an extremely talented stencil artist and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next. I was so excited with the gift that I decided to finish a piece that I was working on titled “Breakthrough” and it will be part of several new series and new techniques that I am working on. Make sure to check out more from Koleszar and his solo show which is still open.

This past weekend marked the opening of T & P Fin Art Gallery’s “Cut Copy” stencil group show and it was a great event. The exhibition was mind blowing and all of the artist really brought their best work out. It was great to meet so many people and run into some familiar names in the art world especially El Toro (
Here) and JoKa (
Here)who dropped by the show and I have been fans of their work from a long time now. El Toro is a sticker animal in Philly and JoKa’s paintings and level of detail is insane. Check out some photos of the nite below.
Thanks to Ren, El Toro and Crystal for the photos!!

PaperMonster has recently just been featured in two fantastic interviews. The first is through Carmine Magazine (
http://carminemag.com/2009/02/04/papermonster/) and the second for Phawker News (
http://www.phawker.com/2009/02/06/artsy-street-fighting-man/). Carmine Mag covers topics including my process, motivation, and upcoming projects while Phawker has in depth coverage of the “Cut Copy” stencil group show currently open at T & P Fine Art. Check out more info below::
CM: What kind of an environment do you need to create in and what does your workspace look like (pictures welcomed)?
PM: My work environment is one word “CHAOS.” There is paper everywhere! I sit in the middle of the room and I create a circle where I can reach all around me and grab any supplies I need at any time. I choose everything I do very carefully and there is an entire mindset of controlled chaos. I love creative environment but it is a huge problem to clean up. After I finish one painting, I start the entire process all over again.

From Phawker
“You’ll find Papermonster at the show tonight repping his work and T&P Fine Art. ”I believe that T&P Fine Art is an incredible venue with no limits. They are bringing the best of the best to the public and you can really see that they want to showcase new things that will inspire and bring something unique for the public at large. This stencil show is their way of demonstrating the variety of styles and subjects within stencil art as well as between stencil artists throughout the world and it is an opportunity that you do not want to pass up. I will definitely be there for the opening with a massive amount of free stickers to hand out to everyone I meet or walks through those gallery doors.”

This upcoming Friday, February 6th marks the opening of two group shows celebrating stencil art almost halfway across the globe. The “Your Kid Can’t Do This” group show in Australia and the “Cut Copy” group show in Philadelphia are bringing together some of the worlds most talented stencil artists. Being an artist is extremely exciting because your work can be at multiple places at once and you get to touch whole different audience hundreds of miles away. If you have the chance do not miss out on these shows. Check out some photos below of several of the pieces up in each show and some street stickers I posted during my adventures through Philly.
