West and East Coast Shows This Weekend feat. PaperMonster!!!

This weekend is extremely exciting as I will be taking part in group shows on both coast. There are two exhibitions for the release of Stencil Nation, by Russell Howze (www.stencilnation.org) which is an incredible book on stencil art. That is on the West Coast and on the East PaperMonster will be taking part in a show with CryBaby Gallery (HERE) in the beautiful Asbury Park, NJ. Also PaperMonster will be taking part in the incredible show “I am 8-Bit” coming in August which is going to be fantastic. International Poster Art Show (Roma, Italy) feat. PaperMonster

It was a beautiful day on Saturday and it was great to meet so many talented artist and just participate in the set-up and be part of such a fantastic event. This Saturday, May 17th, 24 street artists will descend upon a 19th Century Beacon, NY factory building to install their artwork on its exterior. This project, called Electric Windows, draws its name from the former electric blanket factory at the foot of Mount Beacon that will act as the backdrop for the event.
Literally turning the idea of a gallery inside out, Electric Windows will house 24 pieces approximately 8’ x 12’, on the large industrial windows of the factory for 12 months!

Mompou Restaurant: Solo Exhibition PaperMonster

Earlier this week PaperMonster (myself) went into a rampage of painting. I have been working on group, solo shows, and other design projects for the past couple of weeks. I am doing a small exhibition of works for a restaurant. I will be sending over some pieces to DrityPilot.com to showcase some of the experimental works that I have created before my solo show with them. (very excited about those pieces) PaperMonster will be releasing two new t-shirt designs: one this week and another once DirtyPilot has posted the works in their group show section. Stencil Event feat. PaperMonster

Earlier this week I was invited to Drew University to create some stencils and help with a stencil/muralist event which La Casa Latina (Theme House) was holding for the campus. This free event gave people the opportunity to create t-shirts using stencil and fabric paint to create beautiful pieces of walking art. The weather was fantastic and I brought along some things to demonstrate how more complex stencil pieces are put together. Overall it was a fantastic time and the theme house did a great job of providing a means of self expression for the campus. In addition to the event I was invited by a curator to create several pieces which will be shown in a restaurant name Mompou (located inNewark, New Jersey’s Ironbound District.) The space is incredible and I will post some preview pictures after the hanging next week. Here are some pictures from the stencil art event. Enjoy.

2 Solo Shows (Aug/Oct)!! More News/Previews

It has been a busy couple of weeks. I (PaperMonster) have been putting a bunch of things together for several shows all around the world. I have also received some great news. What is it????? I will be having two solo shows. The first will be an amazing show for Dirty Pilot (www.dirtypilot.com) in August. Dirty Pilot is an incredible online gallery which showcases a huge amount of artist from all over the world. They currently have two shows running and you should definitely check them out. I have a huge amount of respect for the site and the hard work that has gone into it. There are many good finds for sale from the art world. In addition to the Dirty Pilot show, I will be having another solo show in October in Lancaster, PA. It will be for Metropolis Gallery/Store ( wwwmetropolis-store.com) which is an incredibly unique gallery in Pennsylvania. They currently have a show featuring works from AKO. The gallery showcases unique furniture, art toys, and a huge range of art products. Both locations are incredible and I am so honored to work with them. NOW TIME FOR WORK. Seed Gallery (Newark, NJ) Show feat. PaperMonster

Newark’s Seed Gallery (www.newarkseed.com) is having an upcoming performance event this Friday, Feb 22nd from 8pm-3am. Gezim invited me to join the gallery and put some new pieces up. The actual gallery space is fantastic. It is huge. I put together a good range of pieces and prints using some freshly cut stencils and new patterns. The show will feature DJs, Drumming and Dancing, Projections, Videos, and many other performances as well as art installations. Here are the details of the show:

This is a new stencil that I have been working on. It is so powerful. I will be making new sticker with just a black and white image of the foreground stencil.

Gezim provided me a perfect space. As soon as you enter the gallery BAMN side right wall.

These are four prints that I put together. All unique and 1 of 1, with each using an unique pattern. The canvas of the general is also new and it looks amazing up close.

Hanging paintings on brick is so hard. Especially when you bang your finger with a hammer.

January was a wild month. The show at Art Whino was fantastic and it was great meeting a ton of people. They have posted the online store w/ 4 paintings that are still up for sale. Art Whino Gallery Opening!! Images and Video

I recently had a gallery opening for a group show at Art Whino (artwhino.com) in Alexandria, Va over the weekend. It was amazing. I was able to meet a ton of great people and I was extremely surprised at the ridiculous turn out of people. The actual gallery itself is massive with at everywhere from the hallways to the bathrooms. It is very impressive and so professional. The staff at Art Whino and the owners have done a great job and have brought an incredible art scene to that area. I gave out PaperMonster stickers the entire night and everyone had a great time. The gallery even had a live painting session feat J. Coleman. The solo show room was also massive. As you can see above, there is a video of the opening that I put together from the group show. I didn’t have a chance to get footage of all the artist in the show but it gives you a good taste of what to expect. UP: Ignite What’s Next

Today I stopped over to the Upper Playground: Ignite What’s Next Tour. It was an incredible event. I was able to speak with David Choe and see Saber and Retna at work. If you don’t already know these artist put ridiculous hours of work into their art. Talking to David Choe was truly inspirational and he really got my mind focused on what I need to do with my life and where I want to go. When you meet artist you truly get a better picture of the stresses they endure and what they have had to sacrifice. I have a huge amount of respect for them. Overall it was a great event and you should check it out when and if they roll into your town. Thanks again David, Retna and Saber.

Lately I have been working a wide variety of projects and trying to get some things off the ground, so I wanted to show what pieces I have been working on.
