Day 4. Every day in Paris my goal was to explore as many different areas and neighborhoods. I spent hours walking around every corner and alley trying to take photos and get a feel for the city. Here is a shot of a shutter by Above @abovestudio in 2005, Paris. #streetart #streetartcollage #stencil #stencils #streetart #stencilart #stencilgraffiti #graffiti #graffitiart #above #art #paris #parisart #parisgraffiti #spraypaint

Day 4. I mentioned in a previous post that the street art world is full of love stories. This is one. Blek met Sybille while in Berlin as she was his tour guide. He feel in love and placed this beautiful stencil on the street so that she would come across it on her way to work. He wrote next to the life-sized stencil “For Sybille”. It worked!! Later on they would marry and have a son!! Sybille is also an extremely talented writer and photographer. She has written several books on street art and stencil art covering a huge period of history. On the left is her book title “Pochoir” meaning stencil with the stencil Blek placed for her in Berlin. It was so wonderful to hear stories of Blek @blekleratoriginal pasting stencils across Paris and then Sybille would try to capture the pieces with her camera days later. Love is everywhere!! #lovestory #bleklerat #stencil #stencils #streetart #stencilart #stencilgraffiti #graffiti #graffitiart #urbanart #urbancanvas #spraypaint #pochoir #paint @realkoralie @realsupakitch @dabsmyla #streetart #streetartcollage #art #artcollection #artbook #paris #parisart #parisgraffiti

Day 3. There is one thing that I value most about being part of the street art world and that is knowing the history. Who painted what, where and how? There a so many stories in the “street art” world that are just passed on through experience. There are love stories and feuds all over one thing: art. This is a photo I took during the Wooster Collective street art tour in front of the famous candle building on Wooster Street. This building is now completed surrounded by apartment complexes and condos. The city continues to be transformed. With old spots being lost, new ones will sprout and new artists will make it their homes. Above is a classic @skullphone and @dface_official paste up. Spring 2005. Know your history!! #woostercollective #woosterstreet #streetart #streetartcollage #stencil #stencilgraffiti #stencilart #urbanart #graffiti #graffitiart #urbancanvas #spraypaint #soho #nycart #nycstreetart #art #drawing

Day 3. On the tour there were so many stand out street art pieces from giant NeckFace @nastyneckface1 to a massive Mike Giant @giantrebel8 mural. Here is @marcschil in front of a beautiful wall with @osgemeos @xabu @wk360 and a small @banksy rat right below the @osgemeos piece. That night someone has added the kite to the character. You could feel the conversation and level of interaction between the artists. Each one wanted to add and become part of something bigger. Many thanks to Marc and Sara for taking the time to share their love for street art. #woostercollective #stencil #stencils #streetart #spraypaint #streetartcollage #streetartcollection #graffiti #graffitiart #osgemeos #wkinteract #banksy #nycart #nycstreetart #art #urbancanvas #soho

Day 3. While in college I had the opportunity to take an international seminar to Paris and London. We could create our own research project and I chose to study street art. In the Spring of 2005 just before leaving to Paris the @marcschil and Sara from the Wooster Collective gave a wonderful free tour of NYC street art in SOHO. The walk was filled with a distinct rawness. Free art was scattered along the path for people to pick up and it was so exciting to learn about new and established artists. Above is a shot of Marc and Sara in front of a street piece featuring @wk360 and @skewville #woostercollective #urbanart #streetart #stencil #stencils #streetart #stencilart #splatter #streetartcollage #streetartcollection #wkinteract #skewville #nycstreetart #nycart #art #artcollection #graffiti #graffitiart #soho

Day 2. There are few books that have had an impact on my life. Stencil Graffiti by Tristan Manco @tristan_manco is one of those books. At the time there were little to no books on stencils or street art. This book captured the street art movement in such a beautiful way. It would be in this book where I would learn about Blek Le Rat and other incredible stencil artists that I continue to admire. Little did I know that years later this book would travel with me to Paris to meet Blek @blekleratoriginal I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is a wonderful source of inspiration. #stencil #stencils #streetart #stencilart #stencilgraffiti #streetartcollage #stencilrevolution #streetartcollector #streetartcollection #graffiti #graffitiart #urbanart #banksy #bleklerat #arys #acrylic #artcollection #drawing

Day 1. We all have a story and this is mine. In 2004 I started my first stencil and I was immediately hooked. Every day I would look and imagine how things could be turned into a stencil. Imagining lines and cuts that don’t exist. I would train my eyes to look at a car and imagine how to make that image into a simple stencil. It felt like seeing the world with a whole new set of eyes. When I started I was fascinated by animals. These were the first subjects that I wanted to make stencils of. My dad @padremonster got me my first exacto knife set and I used clear sheets from an overhead projector to make each small stencil. Later as PaperMonster I would combine animals with the faces of women to tell a new story. #PaperMonster #paint #penguin #stencil #streetart #stencilart #stencilgraffiti #streetartcollage #graffiti #graffitiart #urbanart #monkey #cutout #drawing #acrylic #spraypaint #exacto #canvas #art
