Below are a bunch of shots from our latest project painting alongside Joe Iurato (HERE), Peter Ferrari (HERE), Hamilton Glass (HERE), the Yok and Sheryo (HERE) at Randall’s Island in New York for the 2016 Governors Ball music festival (HERE). We each created interactive murals for festivalgoers and you can see some of the silly shots we took across the festival. It was a blast!!!
This past week I had the pleasure of painting alongside some Joe Iurato (HERE), Peter Ferrari (HERE), Hamilton Glass (HERE), the Yok and Sheryo (HERE) at Randall’s Island in New York for the 2016 Governors Ball music festival (HERE).
Each of the murals were interactive and put together by Take 5 (HERE) with each artist inspired by a GovBall performer. My mural was inspired by Robyn. Joe Iurato’s mural was based on Beck. Peter Ferrari was inspired by De La Soul. Hamilton Glass’ mural was based on Kanye West and The Yok and Sheryo made a mural based on Action Bronson. Below you see a collection of some progress from my mural painting next to the incredibly talented duo the Yok and Sheryo.
Stay posted for more photos!!
A huge THANK YOU to my love for helping me prepare and work on the mural!!

The artists come from all walks of life as well as from all over the world including Australia, United Kingdom, Paris, and throughout the United States. The show is not about how intricate, how many layers, or how much time it took these artists to cut each stencil but about showcasing the history, evolution, and future of stencil art. Paper Monster, the exhibits curator, has this to say about bringing the Friends With Knives to Crewest Gallery: “I chose to put these artists together for many different reasons. Some of the artists I have either been a fan of or have had the honor of showing with, collaborating, or meeting by chance in my life. As a whole we push each other and hopefully push the creativity of the stencil graffiti/art community. Being stencil artists we have a common bond and we know the hardships and struggles that come with the work that we do. The process of cutting stencils can be grueling and demanding. It is extremely difficult to gain respect and admiration for the huge amount of work and dedication that we put in our work from the art world but we are willing to do everything in our power to share our talent with the world. Many of us have been creating stencils for five to ten years and some of us are relatively unknown artists that deserve an opportunity to shine. My hope is that everyone in the show uses this opportunity to support their love and hopefully they will be leaders in the future as they continue to push stencil art further.”-PaperMonster
Each day this week I will be posting info on all of the events/shows I will be taking part in this summer. The first event that I am excited to announce is Electric Windows (HERE) presented by Open Space Gallery (HERE) which takes place Saturday July 31st in Beacon, New York. The event will feature some insane talent as urban artists including Avic Tchernichovski, Big Foot, Buxtonia, Cern, Chris Stain, Chris Yormick, Depoe, Elbow Toe, Elia Gurna, Ellis G, Erik Otto, Eugene Good, Faust, Gaia, Joe Iurato, Mr Kiji, Logan Hicks, Michael De Feo, PaperMonster, Peat Wollaeger, Rick Price, Riiisa Boogie, Ron English, Ryan Bubnis, Ryan Williams, Skewville, and TC. This is an event you do not want to miss!! You will be able to meet some of your favorite artists painting massive canvases. It is a great event not just to meet the artists but to take in the beautiful city of Beacon, visit Open Space Gallery, and have a great time. Check out more info below and the show flyer: http://electricwindowsbeacon.com/ Click on image to view larger.
Info via the Electric Windows Site: “24 street artists will converge in Beacon, NY on Saturday July 31st to create live artwork and have their work installed on the exterior of a 19th century factory building. Electric Windows draws its name from the former electric blanket factory at the foot of Mount Beacon that will act as the backdrop for the event. E.W. turns the idea of a gallery inside out using the large industrial windows as frames for each artists work. Usually street art is not so easily contained in a rectangle but this installation ingeniously bridges the gap between indoor and outdoor art both inverting and subverting the concept of the art gallery. Each of the 24 pieces will be approximately 8 ft x 12 ft.“ http://electricwindowsbeacon.com/event_info.html The final products of the previous Electric Windows Event.
